All players will be assigned a contract of some sort. Minor league eligible or rookie protected players will be kept at the league minimum of $400k until said player has completed their 3rd rookie season, defined as 2nd season after passing minor league parameters of 250 at bats or 100 innings pitched for a career. The season a player achieves those stats will be considered their first rookie season and will be kept under same contract for 2 additional years. Players that are kept originally or franchised tag that are passed the rookie limits will use their real life contract. 5 years is the max on any contract. If there is options in a players "rl" contract, you have that option up front. You must post this contract as it appears on Cot's (link is provide at bottom of this post) and then post your decision on the options. Once you have posted your choice the issue is closed and will not be reopened for discussion. Free agents will be bid on with this process posted in the league rules section and free agent bidding section. The layout for how to bid and contract rules/limits are in the post. When a contract expires owners have the option to tag or release a player. When releasing players, teams are responsible for half of the remaining contract. It can be paid yearly or in one lump sum if that team has the cap room to do so. Charges for released players are charged to your cap.
